There have been many classics in the world of ballet and it isn't easy to select just a few. However, there are some ballet dances that people never tire of seeing. Ballet continues to be extremely popular and appreciated by a lot of people. Ballet isn't just for girls - many men take part in ballet both as performers, choreographers and composers. It's wonderful how young children are still learning the ballet so that the dance will continue in future generations. Not only that, but children look so adorable and elegant in their tutus!
Ballet can be very misunderstood. Those who have an appreciation for this form of dance know that ballet performances are built upon a story. Ballet is an art form of movement and creativity. For the performers, the ballet dancers, it all begins in ballet school. Most ballet dancers begin at a young age and learn the unique movements in a professional ballet school. The movements in ballet are very smooth and each movement has to be done precisely.
The Royal Ballet School in England is regarded as being among the highest standard of ballet schools. They train students with the greatest potential in classical ballet, where they can go on to perform and live out their dreams at the Royal Ballet and many other prestigious ballet dance companies across the globe.
So, I bet you would like to know a little about some of those grandiose performances we mentioned earlier? Here is just a selection of some of the most famous ballet dances of all time.
The Nutcracker
Without a doubt one of the most performed ballets of our time, TheNutcracker dates back to the 19th century when it was written by the legendary Russian composer Tchaikovsky. The first ballet performance came almost half a century later in 1944. This performance was the start of an instant craze - one which spread from across the globe. In America especially the Nutcracker became associated with the Christmas holidays and people never tire of it. Adults and children alike are mesmerized by this show and are usually very familiar with the music.
Swan Lake
The ballet Swan Lake is another classic by Tchaikovsky. It is technically very demanding and only the most talented of dancers can perform it. It can be very emotional to watch, but for the dancer, it is also a tough test on their ability to display the great emotions through their elegant and graceful movements. If you were to see just one ballet performance, you should seriously consider this one - they say it is the mother of ballet!
The Sleeping Beauty
Another piece written by Tchaikovsky, The Sleeping Beauty was his first famous ballet. Despite the Nutcracker being more famous in this day, the serious critics of ballet both then and now will argue that The Sleeping Beauty was the best of all Tchaikovsky's balletic works. The dance and the music go hand in hand and both are as important as each other.
